As a caregiver, I have come to realize and appreciate the importance of self-care for myself and also for my family. If I do not take care of myself, then I’m pouring out from an empty cup, which is not beneficial to those who depend on me as a caregiver.
Below are a few at-home techniques and local organizations that can help you practice low-cost self-care.
Access to quality, affordable housing continues to be an important priority for families across our community. Through MDHA, there are properties in Nashville that include income-restricted or workforce housing options, including Cherry Oak Apartments in East Nashville.
Our ChanceTN, a pilot program of the Tennessee Alliance for Economic Mobility (TAEM) dedicated to helping individuals in low-income households overcome benefits cliffs, recently hosted We Love Our ChanceTN, a Valentine’s-themed hiring event designed to connect caregivers with immediate employment opportunities.
In recognition of Poverty Awareness Month, the Martha O’Bryan Center partnered with the Tennessee Alliance for Economic Mobility (TAEM) to host a poverty simulation training designed as professional development for community partners.
