Title of Position: Peer Ambassador  

 Description of Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Recruit caregivers to participate in Our ChanceTN, an initiative of the the Tennessee Alliance for Economic Mobility (TAEM).  

  • Develop short videos and photo stories that focus on your family’ successes and challenges as you seek to gain or increase employment, pursue education opportunities (if applicable), and move beyond the benefits cliff  

  • Partner with county-based Our ChanceTN staff to recruit at locations and events around the county. 

  • Promote the tangible benefits of participating in Our ChanceTN, as well as the intangible benefits, such as hope and a sense of belonging.  

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate Ambassador Town Halls and awareness campaigns. 

  • Work closely with the Peer Ambassador Manager and other Peer Ambassadors to create content to be used online, on social media, and in presentations.  

  • Meet with parents and caregivers around community to increase awareness of Our ChanceTN 

  • Conduct home visits as needed to recruit caregivers.  

  • Lead the effort in connecting with community partners to help with recruiting efforts, expanding supports and services, and strengthening resource navigation.  

 Qualifications for Position: Participant in Our ChanceTN pilot 

Supervisory relationships: Supervised by Peer Ambassador Manager 

Skills and Knowledge Required:  

  • Hard working and committed to the vision of Our ChanceTN 

  • Desire to create change in community 

  • Strong interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships.  

  • Good verbal and written communication skills 

  • Strong time management and organizational skills 

  • Ability to navigate and use communication platforms (Zoom, social media, Outlook, etc.) 

Personal Qualities:  

  • Interested in building community and creating a sense of belonging  

  • Transparency and honesty in sharing challenges and success while seeking to gain or increase employment, pursue education opportunities (if applicable), and move beyond the benefits cliff.  

  • Friendly, sincere, and courteous.  

  • Creative and engaging
