Kenny York founded Manna Cafe in 2009, fulfilling his dream to serve the hungry and homeless. What began as one meal served to a few dozen people is now eight hot meals per week. Manna also distributes more than 2.5 million pounds of groceries annually; dispenses clothing, blankets, household items, diapers, and school supplies to low-income families; and offers emergency shelter to the homeless during freezing weather. They also have a culinary arts internship program, bi-monthly free clinic, caseworkers, and hot showers for the homeless. Each year, Manna Café “rescues” roughly one million pounds of surplus food from local stores and pairs it with the hungry. In the fall of 2022, Kenny was called home to heaven after a battle with cancer; his wife, Vicki, now oversees the organization, along with a team of more than 25 employees and hundreds of volunteers.
